Fast food is popular among the audience, but most people have not noticed that fast food can be provided to customers in paper cups, cartons and other "paper containers" in a fast, convenient and clean way. Many people are still quite strange to the production of paper containers. The paper container is basically made of food paper as raw material, and is formed by printing and cutting. The production of the paper cup requires a step of laminating to achieve the waterproof and oil proof effect. By understanding the production process of paper cups, we will learn more about the safety of paper containers and how to use paper containers correctly and be more friendly to the earth.

Quetta Industrial Co., Ltd., which has a 23-year history Plastic Chair Moulds Manufacturers  of manufacturing paper containers, has factories in Taiwan, Nanjing, Ningbo, and the United States. In Taiwan alone, the number of paper cups produced each year is 100 million. If you are in Taiwan, While reading the article, you may also use a paper cup made by Quetta Industries to enjoy the drink.

Wang Youzi, general manager of Quetta Industrial, tookplastic ism mould  the paper cup as an example to introduce the paper container manufacturing process to us. First of all, the paper for making paper containers must be food grade paper. In Taiwan, most of the food paper is imported from Europe and the United States, which is the best grade in paper. Then, the coating process must be carried out on the paper surface to coat the oil-resistant material in order to carry out the subsequent molding step.

Wang Yuzi said that the coating is a very thin plastic material attached to the paper, so that the paper cup can be resistant to oil and water, and can hold beverages and soup food for a long time. The selection of this coating material is also related to the characteristics of the subsequent paper cup. .
After the lamination process, the desired pattern and color are printed on the paper roll. The printing method can be divided into three ways: gravure, convex plate and flat plate. The gravure cost is too high and has been used sparingly; the convex plate printing is continuously printed by paper rolls, and the required printing volume is large. In lithography, the paper is cut into pieces and printed, making it suitable for small quantities. After the ink is finished, a layer of water-light treatment will be printed for protection.

Some manufacturers use the method of "printing in the ink" to print the film first and then coat the ink in the coating. This method has a higher wear rate and therefore higher cost. However, regardless of the printing method, the container printing materials in contact with food must be food grade to ensure safety when eating.

Forming only in an instant! Birth of paper cup

The printed paper enters the die and punches the fan-shaped paper, which is the unfolded shape of the wall of the paper cup. The pieces of the fan-shaped paper are collected and fed into the molding machine, and the paper is then rolled into a paper cup shape outside the cup mold. At the same time, the mold provides heat at the seams of the paper, allowing the PE to be bonded to each other by thermal damage, and the bottom of the paper cup is then attached. Immediately after the mold pushes the cup, the paper at the mouth of the cup is rolled down and fixed by heat to form the cup edge of the paper cup. These molding steps can be completed in 1 second.

The fan-shaped paper is fed into the molding machine from the upper right production line, wound on a conical mold, and the PE film is bonded to each other by pressure heating, and the bottom of the paper cup is also joined here, and the paper cup is formed (Photo by Kuida Industrial Co., Ltd.) The finished paper cup is sent to the inspection machine to confirm whether the shape is intact and not damaged, the internal surface is clean and free of stains, and the finished paper cup enters the packaging process and waits for shipment.

The paper container is resistant to heat and can it be microwaved? Wang Yuzi said that if the beverage needs microwave, the liquid in the paper cup must be filled to 8 to 9 minutes to avoid empty burning of the paper cup. Depending on the material of the coating, some paper cups can withstand temperatures of 95 degrees. However, it is generally recommended to microwave only to warm, about 70 degrees C or less is appropriate, to avoid heating to the high temperature that cannot be imported.

The government has recently advocated the use of environmentally friendly materials and reusable food containers for environmental protection, and has gradually reduced the scope of disposable tableware. However, if it is forbidden to use disposable tableware, can it be environmentally friendly? Reduction is of course an important part of environmental protection measures, but for catering operators and consumers, the convenience of disposable paper containers is difficult to replace with other forms. In addition to disabling, is there any other way to make environmental benefits even better?

As a manufacturer of disposable tableware, Wang Yuzi provided her long-term observations at home and abroad. She said that paper containers need better recycling pipes. In foreign countries, there is a more detailed classification of paper containers, and consumers can clearly distinguish the classification of paper containers they have used in recycling. In contrast, in Taiwan, paper cups and cartons are often recycled as paper, but in fact, the process of recycling waste paper containers is different from that of general paper recycling. Consumers are not clear about the differences, which makes recycling impossible.

Even if the manufacturer produces a PLA paper cup with a decomposable material, the consumer and the manufacturer will recycle the PLA paper cup together with the general PE paper cup, and lose the meaning of using the PLA material "decomposable". If you can promote the container with a clear material label, it is helpful for recycling classification, but also have the correct recycling pipeline.

Environmental protection should not be just a measure, and it needs to be improved by many parties.

Wang Yuzi emphasized that the government needs to invest more in education and education, and plan appropriate classifications for paper containers in various types of garbage collection places to make the recycling process smoother. At the same time, the government should also cultivate more resources to recycle. The industry, after recycling the paper containers, can properly handle the reuse, which is the real implementation of environmental protection from all aspects.

In the appeal of environmental protection, the government, manufacturers and consumers all have the practice of improving environmental efficiency. The government can cultivate and educate, the industry can adopt FSC sustainable forest paper or decomposable materials, and consumers can also actively classify Recycling and reduction use. No matter what role you are in, you need to work hard to be synchronized from all aspects to truly make the environment better.
